Oyo Youths Raise Alarm Over Plans By Politicians to Use Fake Military Men to Disrupt Governorship Elections

A group of youths, the Oyo Youths for Good Gorvernance, has alerted the Inspector General of Police the Chief of Army Staff and the Minister of Defence on alleged plans by politicians to use men in fake police and army uniforms to rig the March 9, 2019, governorship elections.

They also sent a serious warning to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the State and the APC Gubernatorial candidate for the state, Adebayo Adelabu to desist from setting the state on fire all because of what they termed, “greedy and unwarranted ambition”.
Speaking at a press briefing at Ogbomoso Monday morning,, Bode Orimolade, the spokesperson of the group alleged that there are plans by the outgoing governor and the APC candidate to cause mayhem in the governorship elections to pave way for the APC to win.
Part of the statement reads:
“The Oyo Youths for Good Governance has it on good authority that Abiola Ajimobi and his cohort, Adebayo Adelabu have payed huge sums of money to som members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW to cause major disruptions and mayhem at the Gubernatorial elections on March 9th, 2019. Their plan is to use these elements to terrorise voters who want to vote for candidates of their choice, disguised in military uniforms, especially in Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Igboora and Surulere. We hereby call on the Inspector General of Police, the Chief of Army Staff and the Minister of Defence to stop the planned nefarious activities of these men”.
“The Oyo Youth Movement for Good Governance, hereby calls on the military authorities to be on the lookout for these fake men in uniform and deal decisively with anyone caught”.
Orimolade cautions that “Oyo Youths are ready for any of these unscrupulous elements who want to make our mothers cry and turn our wies into widows. We promise that if Ajimobo and his band of wicked men make any attempt to execute their plan in Oyo, they will be reminded of Operation Wet e of 1963”.
Orimolade advised youths to be of good conduct but must also resist any force sent to deny them of their constitutional rights: ” If Ajimobi qnd Adelabu want young men to fight for them, they should put their sons forward. Ezekiel Adelabu must be in front before you kill yourself for his father”.
The group declared it’s support for Seyi Makinde of the PDP who they say means well for the state. “For him, it has never been a do or die affair, we stand solidly behind a man who means well for us, who doesn’t advocate violence”.
Govership elections are billed to take place all over Nigeria, on 9th of March 2019
