10 Turkish sailors abducted off Lagos coast released

Ten Turkish sailors who were kidnapped by gunmen off their ship in the Lagos coastal area have regained their freedom. They were released on friday August 9. On July 16, at least 10 Turkish sailors traveling aboard the Ivory Coast-bound Turkish ship Paksoy-1 were abducted off Nigeria. The ship is operated by Kadıoğlu Maritime and had 18 crew on board when it was attacked by pirates suspected to be from Nigeria‘s volatile delta region, according to authorities.

It was a case of bravery as six-year-old Feranmi Bukola escaped being killed by her abductor on Thursday. Feranmi was abducted in her house while sleeping beside her mother, Daily Trust reports. Gov. Ihedioha restores Imo workers full salary

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo has directed that civil servants in the state should start receiving their full salaries from this month (August). The directive is contained in statement issued yesterday by his Special Assistant (Research), Mr Ogubundu Nwadike. Immediate past governor, Rochas Okorocha, had in 2017 slashed the salaries hinging the decision on the dwindling monthly allocation from the Federal Government.
