President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday boosted the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu ahead of the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State as he formally granted him presidential endorsement.
President Buhari while endorsing Ize-Iyamu, who was at the Presidential Villa in the company of the APC’s caretaker committee chairman and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, said that the endorsement is to also bless the APC governorship candidate ahead of the Party’s flag-off campaign on Saturday in Benin.
Governor Mai Mala Buni later told State House correspondents that President Buhari gave his blessings to Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
While responding to a question, Pastor Ize-Iyamu deflated the allegation that 17 members of the Edo State House of Assembly sat in his house on Thursday to impeach the former Speaker of the House and elect a new one.
Ize-Iyamu said; “Let me debunk the statement that 17 members of the State House of Assembly sat in my sitting room, it is not true”.
Also speaking, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, who is the Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council, said that candidate of the PDP in the September elections, Governor Godwin Obaseki is a liability to both the PDP and Edo State.
In his words; “I can assure you that Governor Obaseki is a liability to the PDP. I can assure you that we are contesting against a governor who failed most woefully.”
