Oyo State PDP Chieftain, Dare Adeleke, has condemned a statement credited to the Ogun State Chairman of the party, Dr Sikirulai Ogundele over Ambassador Taofeeq Arapaja’s visit to Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo.
Ambassador Taofeeq Oladejo Arapaja, the newly elected National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, was faulted for visiting the ex president without informing the state chapter of the party.
Dr Ogundele had in a news publication said he was not aware of the visit and wondered why Arapaja did not inform the structure of the party in Ogun State.
In his response, Dare Adeleke, a Makinde ally and strong supporter of Ambassador Arapaja, questioned why a personal visit should become an issue with the Ogun State chairman of the party:
“Does it mean Arapaja no longer has a life of his own and cannot exercise his fundamental human rights of free movement and association in his personal capacity?” Adeleke questions.
“It is rather unfortunate that there are still elements determined to derail the party in the South West by polluting the minds of members with mistrust and misinformation”. He said.
Continuing, Adeleke wonders why some people within the party cannot heed to the call for unity and focus on the journey ahead which is to deliver the zone in the next General elections: “We should be more interested in 2023, ensuring that our zone is totally free of the evil, manipulative and propaganda driven APC. We can only do that by closing ranks and unifying as one great force. It will be recalled that Ambassador Taofeeq Oladejo Arapaja made unification the focal point of his campaign, prior to the highly successful South West congress. The Chairman has started his tenure running on his toes to ensure that the party is united, he is building bridges that had hitherto collapsed and reconciling all parties. He should be receiving commendation rather than negative and unfounded criticisms from the likes of Dr Sikirulai Ogundele.
Let me make it clear that Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, actually visited our former president and statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. He did not tell anyone he was on a state visit. I wonder why Ogundele is deliberately cooking up a pot of lies and brewing a storm in a teacup, for reasons best known to him.
Is it because he is still stewing with hatred? He needs to check his hallucination and join the train of progress for the benefit of our great party.
I want to make it clear that a thousand Ogundele cannot stop Arapaja and his quest for progress and taking back our zone for the failed APC in 2021. Ogundele should the forefront eschew bitterness and fall in line”, Adeleke concludes.
