Oyo Pacesetters Transport boss and PDP Chieftain, Dare Adeleke has described a call by Mr Bayo Ojo, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Oyo state, advising the APC to challenge the Supreme Courts decision on the on-coming local govt elections, as baseless and misleading.
Ojo had in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, said that the judgement was inappropriate and violation of court process for the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) to put up notices of election after the case was filed at the Supreme Court.
He therefore described the decision excluding the APC from the election which is slated for May 22 as illegal and a travesty of Justice.
In his response, Adeleke wondered why a lawyer of Ojo’s repute would condescend to .is interpreting the law he is sworn to uphold:
“The Supreme Court which is the Apex of our country has spoken. Bayo Ojo should know better than contradict it’s judgement.
Is his position that of the law?
The fact is, Ojo’s interpretations are political and coming from a parochial mind set. What he has said is indirectly telling the referee that the kidnappers, bandits and nepotists are coming. I am of opinion that some of our lawyers should be sent to “Eko Agba” The Pacesetters boss said.
“Saying that the election is illegal if APC does not participate sounds hilarious.
“Out of 17 political parties, how can the one which has brought in kidnapping, banditry and all forms of fraudulent activities are the ones shouting?” Adeleke opined.
“I want to use this opportunity to tell my aburo, Ojo, to stop ranting. If he wishes to run for an office, he should find another avenue to be recognised. ” Adeleke stated.
