The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, led by Senator Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, is seeking an ex parte order from the Federal High Court in Gusau to facilitate the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The move is seen as an attempt to gain the upper hand in the ongoing internal power struggle within the party.

Court documents obtained by this medium reveal that the request was filed at 8:30 AM on October 22, 2024, by one Imam Auwal. The request seeks a special court order under Justice Salim Ibrahim, aimed at ensuring the NEC meeting proceeds, giving the Governors’ Forum an advantage in the tussle for control of the PDP.

The filing has been described as a strategic move by the Governors’ Forum to secure its position in the leadership battle for the “soul of the party.”
