Controversial street-pop artiste, Portable, has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, claiming the move would secure peace and stability in Nigeria.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the singer appealed to Nigerians to back the president’s re-election bid, warning of potential unrest if Tinubu fails to return to office.
“Nigeria, my country, we need peace, we want peace. If you do not want war in Nigeria, vote for Tinubu,” Portable said. “I do not want a problem. If you do not want a US-Iran type of war, follow Tinubu. I am telling you the world is wicked.”
The artiste also stirred reactions with comments suggesting ethnic loyalty, arguing that it was the turn of the Yoruba to complete a second term in office.
“It is Yoruba’s turn for the second term,” he said. “Woe betide a Yoruba indigene that doesn’t vote for Tinubu.”
Portable’s remarks have since triggered mixed reactions online, with critics and supporters debating the role of celebrities in political discourse ahead of the 2027 general elections.
