Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has celebrated her 55th birthday, using the milestone to reflect on a career and life journey spanning over three decades in the Nigerian film industry.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the award-winning actress announced her birthday in a post on her verified Instagram account, @k8henshaw, on Sunday, expressing gratitude for life’s lessons and blessings.
Henshaw wrote, “I have lived. I have loved. I have lost. I have learned. I have fallen. I have risen. And through it all, I have been carried by GRACE.”
She added, “As I step into another year, my heart has just two words: THANK YOU,” describing herself as “quietly grateful” and “deeply blessed” as she begins a new chapter.
The post has since drawn an outpouring of goodwill messages from fans, well-wishers and colleagues across the entertainment industry, with many describing her as ageless and celebrating her enduring influence in Nollywood.
One fan, @papaya_ex, wrote, “55 or 25? Happy birthday, very stunning ageless queen.” Another follower, @dttransports, prayed for her continued reign and good health in the coming year.
NAN reports that Henshaw, born on July 19, 1971, in Cross River State, is a fitness enthusiast and humanitarian widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most accomplished screen icons. She made her acting debut in 1993 in When the Sun Sets and has since featured in more than 100 Nollywood productions.
Before her acting career, she worked as a model, appearing in several print and television commercials, including campaigns for Shield deodorant. Her performance in Stronger than Pain earned her the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2008.
Beyond acting, Henshaw has served as a judge on reality television shows and partnered with organisations on public health, youth development and women’s empowerment campaigns. She contested a House of Representatives seat in 2014 under the Peoples Democratic Party and remains an active voice on governance and civic issues. (NAN)
