The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly placed a “Post No Debit” restriction on an Osun State Government account domiciled with First Bank, less than two weeks before the state’s governorship election.
Documents obtained by Paparazzi Online indicate that the affected account, reportedly used for the payment of workers’ salaries, has been frozen by the anti-graft agency.
The restriction, which came about 10 days to the governorship poll, has sparked concerns over its potential impact on the state’s financial operations, particularly the payment of civil servants.
According to the documents obtained by Paparazzi Online, the account was placed under a “Post No Debit” directive by the EFCC, effectively preventing any withdrawals or transactions from the account.
«”The account, domiciled with First Bank and reportedly designated for the payment of workers’ salaries, has been placed on a ‘Post No Debit’ restriction by the EFCC,” the document indicated.»
Neither the EFCC nor the Osun State Government had issued an official statement on the development as of the time of filing this report.
The reason for the action also remained unclear, with no details yet provided by the anti-graft agency regarding the circumstances surrounding the restriction.
