In a major breakthrough, the Nigeria Police have arrested two brothers, Maxwell Mathew (25) and Samuel Mathew (21), for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a young man, Patrick Omoregie, of a staggering seventy million naira (N70m) and his luxury car.

The arrests were made in Benin City, Edo State, where the suspects had reportedly fled to and were hiding in a hotel. Police sources revealed they were finalizing plans to sell the stolen GLC 300 Mercedes Benz belonging to their victim before being caught.

“We’ve been on their trail since the incident, and we finally closed in on them while they were attempting to dispose of the victim’s vehicle,” said a police spokesperson. “It’s a significant win for law enforcement and for the people of Delta State.”

According to reports, the brothers had kidnapped Omoregie in Abraka Community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State. At gunpoint, they forced him to transfer N70 million from his bank account and made away with his car, an iPhone 16 Plus, and N150,000 in cash.

Upon their arrest, officers recovered approximately N30 million — said to be the remaining sum from the loot — along with the victim’s Benz, two high-end power bikes, a cut-to-size locally made single-barrel gun, two cartridges, and a helmet.

Residents of the Abraka area described the suspects as a menace. “We’ve lived in fear for months. These boys have been terrorizing us,” one local resident told reporters.

The suspects are currently in custody and expected to face charges as investigations continue. Would you like this rewritten for radio or TV news format as well?
