The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the Dangote Petroleum Refinery have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration and fostering healthy competition within the country’s oil and gas sector.
This renewed commitment was highlighted in a statement issued on Friday, May 9, by the NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye. According to the statement, both energy giants aim to promote synergy that will drive national prosperity and energy security.
The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the President and CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, to the Group CEO of NNPCL, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, at the NNPC Towers on Thursday, April 8.
“There is no competition between us,” Dangote said during the visit. “We are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of cooperation between the two organisations.”
He also acknowledged the weight of responsibility now resting on the shoulders of the new NNPCL leadership.
“I must say that the task ahead of you is monumental. But I believe it is not insurmountable with the right partnerships and vision,” he added.
In response, Ojulari welcomed the gesture and emphasized the need for strategic collaboration to achieve shared goals.
“We are committed to a mutually beneficial partnership built on healthy competition and innovation. Together, we can drive the transformation of the energy sector and ensure lasting prosperity for Nigerians,” he stated.
Both leaders stressed that their cooperation would be instrumental in securing Nigeria’s energy future and unlocking its full economic potential.
