Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the shock resignation of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The global music star broke his silence on Tuesday via his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he reposted the official announcement of the governor’s exit with a brief but telling comment:

“Jeje…”

The Yoruba expression, which translates to “gently” or “take it easy” has been widely interpreted as a subtle appeal for calm amid the political turbulence triggered by the governor’s abrupt departure.

A Resignation Weeks in the Making

Although news of the resignation surfaced on Monday night, documents show that Governor Adeleke had formally withdrawn from the PDP weeks earlier. In a letter dated November 4, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of Ward 2 in Ede North, the governor announced his decision to sever ties with the party that brought him to office.

He attributed his exit to longstanding internal disagreements, stating that it stemmed from:

“Unresolved issues within the PDP national leadership.”

2026 Governorship Race Thrown Into Disarray

Governor Adeleke’s departure has thrown Osun’s political environment, and the PDP’s preparations for the 2026 governorship election into uncertainty.

Before resigning, Adeleke was the only aspirant to have purchased the PDP nomination form for the upcoming polls. His exit now deepens an already fraught crisis between the party’s state chapter and the National Working Committee (NWC):

  • State Chapter: Advocated postponing the governorship primary due to internal disputes.
  • NWC: Insisted the primary must hold as originally scheduled.

With the governor out of the equation, the PDP faces a turbulent road to the 2026 elections, while political observers await Adeleke’s next moves, and whether Davido’s quiet message of “jeje” hints at a strategic calm before an even bigger political storm.
