Popular Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo, widely known as E-Money, has regained his freedom after spending over a day in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
E-Money was picked up by EFCC operatives on Monday night from his Omole residence in Lagos and transported to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The arrest followed allegations of abuse of the Nigerian currency and defacing of foreign banknotes.
After nearly 36 hours in detention, the businessman was released Tuesday evening. He took to Instagram shortly after, sharing a video of himself at home, dressed regally and surrounded by luxury.
In the video posted on his handle, @iam_emoney1, he wrote: “No tension, everywhere good. I see all your love and support. God bless you all.”
The background music in the clip featured the gospel song, “Thank you for saving me, thank you my Lord,” signaling his gratitude.
A close associate who preferred not to be named commented, “This will only make him stronger—just like our Rolls Royce.”
