Yahaya-Bello

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, of a N80 billion fraud. According to the EFCC, Bello allegedly diverted state funds in September 2015, four months before assuming office.

In response, the Kogi State Government, through Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, denounced the allegations, labeling them as “ridiculous” and “laughable.” Fanwo criticized the EFCC, suggesting that its actions contradict the anti-corruption efforts of the President.

Fanwo argued that Bello couldn’t have committed the alleged offense as he hadn’t yet taken office by September 2015. He emphasized that Bello had no financial ties with the state government before assuming office, making the accusation baseless.

Furthermore, Fanwo warned against politicizing the issue, asserting the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
