Ekiti State – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in Ekiti State, Hon. Dare Adeleke, has pledged to deliver a united and robust PDP to the people of Ekiti, emphasizing that his mandate is to bridge internal divisions and re-establish the party as a force capable of winning future elections in the state.

In a recent address, Adeleke thanked key party leaders who, over the past few weeks, have dedicated themselves to building unity and fostering cooperation among various factions within the PDP. He noted that this spirit of harmony was a significant focus of their latest Abuja meeting, where they stressed the need for collaboration to strengthen the party’s foundation in Ekiti.

“We must present a formidable PDP to the people of Ekiti,” Adeleke said. “Our efforts here are to promote unity among leaders, send a clear message to detractors, especially those aligned with the ruling APC, and signal that PDP is ready to reclaim its position. This meeting demonstrates that we can come together and work as one.”

Adeleke highlighted key objectives for party unity, including showcasing a united front to the public and engaging with party members who may still be undecided about their role. He urged all party leaders to prioritize the party’s progress over personal ambitions, declaring, “Our keyword today is sacrifice. Some leaders must be willing to compromise on critical issues. Nobody can have it all, but together, we will achieve a stronger PDP ready to retake the government house.”

Reflecting on the lessons from the 2022 gubernatorial elections, Adeleke acknowledged that internal conflicts and an inability to reach consensus had hindered the PDP’s chances. He called for leaders to remember these mistakes and ensure they do not repeat themselves.

“The unity of the party cannot be sacrificed for any individual’s ambition,” Adeleke warned, adding that the success of the party depends on fostering an inclusive political structure at every level. He appealed for cooperation in forming a “unity list” across wards and local governments, urging leaders to harmonize candidate selections for the upcoming congresses.

Adeleke also cautioned party leaders to avoid interference in local government matters outside their own, emphasizing the importance of allowing each local area to operate within its unique norms and traditions.

In a move towards strengthening party discipline, Adeleke announced the indefinite suspension of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Oye Local Government, with a new chairman set to be sworn in. He reiterated his commitment to fairness and impartiality in executing his role, stating, “I will be fair to all and firmly stand with the leaders and stakeholders of the party to deliver on my mandate.”

Expressing gratitude to the national leadership for its continued support, Adeleke concluded with optimism that the Ekiti PDP would emerge stronger from the upcoming congresses.
