In a message to party members and leaders, Chairman of the CTC, Dare Adeleke, announced the postponement of the party’s congresses due to unresolved issues at the national level.

Expressing a mix of optimism and caution, Adeleke acknowledged the concerns raised by stakeholders and assured members that efforts were underway to resolve the situation. He recognized the frustration among committed party members, quoting a Yoruba phrase, “Nibo latun ja si yi?” (Where are we going from here?), and reaffirmed his commitment to finding a clear path forward.

Despite the postponement, Adeleke revealed that preparations for the ward congresses were already in motion, with necessary observers, security agents, and logistics in place to ensure a free, fair, and credible process. However, he pointed out a legal challenge from the Fayose camp, which has taken the matter to the Federal Appeal Court in an attempt to halt proceedings regarding a zoning case filed in June.

Adeleke dismissed these legal maneuvers as mere tactics to delay progress, expressing confidence that justice would prevail. He extended his gratitude to party leaders for their continuous support and urged members to remain steadfast and committed to the party’s vision.

“Let us not be deterred by these setbacks. Instead, let us stay determined and focused. We will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger,” he assured.

Adeleke concluded by appreciating the understanding and cooperation of party members, emphasizing that, together, they would navigate these obstacles and build a stronger future for the party.

Full statement below:

Distinguished members and leaders,
I greet you this morning with a mix of optimism and caution. As we stand at the threshold of our party congresses, I have taken note of the various submissions and concerns raised by stakeholders.
Regrettably, after careful consideration, we are constrained to postpone our congresses due to lingering issues at the national level.
I understand the agitation and frustration of our committed members, who are eager to move forward. I share your sentiment, as expressed in the Yoruba palanche , ‘Nibo latun ja si yi?’ (Where are we going from here?). I assure you that we are working tirelessly to resolve these issues and chart a clear path forward.
Despite the challenges, we have been working underground to prepare for our ward congresses. We have secured the necessary observers, security agents, and other logistics, ensuring that our congresses will be free, fair, and credible.
Unfortunately, the Fayose’s camp has taken us to the Federal Appeal Court, seeking a stay of execution, possibly injuction, on the zoning case filed in June. We are undeterred by these antics and are confident that justice will prevail.
I want to thank our leaders who have shown concern and worked closely with us to address these issues. Your support and cooperation are invaluable to our party’s progress.

To our members, I urge you not to be deterred by these setbacks. Instead, let us remain determined, focused, and committed to our shared vision. We will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger.
On behalf of the CTC committee, leaders, and members, I appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Together, we will navigate these challenges and build a brighter future for our party.
Thank you.

DARE ADELEKE CHAIRMAN CTC.
