It looks like Euphoria could be coming to an end next year.

That’s according to HBO‘s executive vice president and Head of Drama Francesca Orsi, who in a recent chat with Deadline Hollywood hinted at season three marking the end of the hit teen drama series.

While Orsi notes that the door’s still being left open for a potential continuation, season three is expected to be Euphoria‘s last: “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end.”

On how season three could wrap up major storylines for its main characters, Orsi teased: “I think you will be very satisfied with this season, and how we bring each of the characters’ whole narrative.”

Little is known of season three, except that “a time jump” will be involved, and that it will consist of eight episodes, which are due to arrive in 2026.

Orsi’s update on Euphoria‘s third season comes just days after it was revealed that production on the long-delayed series had finally begun, offering a first look at Zendaya’s Rue.

While the show has seen some of its cast exit the project – Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister in the series departed Euphoria in November – it has been confirmed that major cast members like Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer are all returning.

It is also currently unclear how Euphoria‘s third season will deal with storylines surrounding actor Angus Cloud, who died in August 2023.

In a glowing five-star review of Euphoria season two, Rhian Daly wrote for NME: “Euphoria season two might have taken a long time to arrive but, with a clutch of new episodes that are darker, tougher and more intense than ever, it’s well worth the wait. Its teen subjects might start the new year off on a negative note, but it’s already setting the bar very high for TV in 2022.”

The post ‘Euphoria’ will likely end with season three, says HBO exec appeared first on NME.
