Abuja, Nigeria – Femi Soneye has announced his resignation as the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), marking the end of a 20-month tenure during which he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s public narrative.

In a heartfelt message to colleagues, Soneye expressed deep appreciation for the support, professionalism, and dedication shown by the communications team throughout his time at NNPC Ltd.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you all for the unwavering support, professionalism, and genuine commitment you’ve shown in helping to shape and amplify the NNPC Ltd story over the past 20 months,” he said.

Soneye stated that his decision to step aside is driven by a desire to spend more time with his family and attend to pressing personal responsibilities.

“It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country, and to contribute in my own way to the ongoing transformation of NNPC Ltd,” he added.

He pledged to remain a “steadfast supporter and ambassador” of NNPC Ltd and encouraged his colleagues to continue with robust, balanced, and constructive reportage in support of the company’s strategic mission in Nigeria’s energy landscape.

Soneye’s departure comes at a time when NNPC Ltd continues to navigate significant reforms aimed at repositioning it as a commercially driven national energy champion.
