The first image of Armie Hammer in his comeback film The Dark Knight has been released – check it out below.

It was revealed in January that the actor has been cast in the vigilante thriller, where he will play Sanders, a man who takes to the streets in an effort to take justice into his own hands. The character becomes a social media sensation, with his public status as a hero contrasting with the opinion of Costas Mandylor’s Interpol chief, who sees him as a scourge to society.

The film, which is not connected to Christopher Nolan’s 2008 film of the same name, is written and directed by German filmmaker Uwe Boll, who is best known for his 2005 video game adaptation Alone In The Dark. See the first image of Hammer in character as Sanders in the post below.

It marks Hammer’s highest profile return to film acting since claims of sexual misconduct emerged against him in 2021. Hammer denied all accusations and after an investigation, Los Angeles prosecutors declined to bring any criminal charges against him.

He was subsequently dropped by his agency and forced to leave all of the projects he was working on, including the film Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez. His role in Taika Waititi’s comedy Next Goal Wins was also re-shot, with his character being taken over by Will Arnett.

Within the past year, Hammer has slowly emerged back into the public eye – he was announced as starring in the upcoming Western film Frontier Crucible, and he launched his own podcast, The Armie HammerTime Podcast. In a recent interview, he also claimed that his job slate has been “pretty full” enough that he’s begun to turn down other offers.

He has also given multiple high-profile interviews in recent months, including with Piers Morgan and Louis Theroux, declaring in the latter that the allegations were “the greatest thing that ever happened to me”, now that he has gained “a sense of distance and perspective from it”.

In July 2022, it was reported that Hammer had been working as a timeshare salesman at a hotel resort in the Cayman Islands to support his family after going “broke” from the allegations.

Prior to the allegations, Hammer had been a mainstream Hollywood star, taking prominent roles in films such as The Social Network and The Lone Ranger, as well as Luca Guadagnino’s acclaimed Call Me By Your Name.
