Benin City – November 14, 2024

In a heartfelt Thanksgiving Service on Wednesday night, Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo attributed his recent election victory to the grace of God, constant prayers, and the support of the Edo people.

Speaking at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, he encouraged Nigerians to rely on faith in overcoming life’s challenges.

Reflecting on the turbulent journey leading to his September 21 election win, Governor Okpebholo shared an unusual experience. “After the election, on Sunday morning, I returned to my room and found a dead bat on my bed. I hadn’t shot any arrow, but the hand of God was present,” he recounted, emphasizing his faith.

“While I was busy praising God, others were operating from television and social media. But I took my battle to God because I knew the secret.”

Okpebholo expressed deep gratitude to his supporters and spiritual leaders who rallied for him through prayers. “I am grateful to the men of God who stood in the gap and to everyone who believed that with God, all things are possible. My advice is simple—trust in God alone, and He will do it for you.”

The Governor assured attendees that he did not turn to native doctors, prophets, or shrines during his campaign. “I didn’t consult any native doctor or prophet. It was faith, prayer, and the support of our people that saw me through.”

The Thanksgiving Service drew prominent politicians, musicians, and clergy, gathering to celebrate the governor’s victory.
