Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has issued a strong warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the Ondo State governorship election set for November 16 approaches.
Makinde, who chairs the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest, declared confidently that APC will face an upset.
“The people of the Southwest, especially in Ondo State, are wiser,” he said during a lively campaign rally in Akoko. “You can see the crowd; look at the enthusiasm. On November 16, they will tell Ganduje that Ondo State and indeed the entire Southwest are for the PDP.”
Makinde’s statement was a pointed response to Ganduje’s recent remarks. Ganduje had claimed the APC is on track to dominate the Southwest, especially after the Ondo election.
“We assure you that Tinubu is the best we have, and we must deliver a 100 percent victory for APC in this election and in the Southwest region. We are strategizing to take over the two remaining states in this area,” Ganduje stated while addressing APC aspirants who recently lost in the party primaries.
Makinde, however, dismissed these claims, asserting that PDP’s presence in Ondo remains strong and undeterred. “The PDP is vibrant and very much alive in Ondo State,” he declared.
