A tech company has rolled back claims the PC edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 will be launching early next year.

Developers have confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 will be launching later this year for both Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

A PC version hasn’t been officially announced yet but typically there’s a delay of several months for Rockstar titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally released in September 2013 while the PC version came in April 2015. There was also a 13-month gap between the console and PC versions of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

Last week Corsair Gaming, a computer peripheral company, seemed to confirm the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 would be released next year.

GTA 6 is probably the one [release] everyone is talking about,” said Corsair’s financial vice president Ronald van Veen during a recent earnings call. “And we’ll get a glimpse of that, I think, later on in the year for console. My understanding now is that it’s going to come out in the fall for console, and then early 2026 for PC.”

However Corsair later released a statement to IGN claiming it still had no idea when Grand Theft Auto 6 was coming to PC. “Ronald van Veen’s comments were speculation”.

The shortened window between releases was previously hinted at by Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick. “We don’t always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms. We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue,” he said earlier this month.

He has also hinted that Grand Theft Auto 6 could come to the Nintendo Switch 2 and said he was feeling “really good” about the game being released this year after rumours of a delay.

In other news, Lord Of The Rings game Tales Of The Shire has been delayed once again and will now launch this summer.
