Grimes has hit out at her former partner Elon Musk for parading their son Lil X around the Oval Office as President Donald Trump signed an executive order.

Musk was in the office while Trump went on to sign an executive order to bolster DOGE’s powers in government. While there, Musk was accompanied by his son – X Æ A-Xii or Lil X – with Trump saying “This is X, and he is a great guy. High IQ. He is a high IQ individual.”

The pop musician was made aware of her son being paraded by Musk at the Oval Office after a fan tweeted her on X/Twitter saying: “Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT “please forgive me, I need to pee”. 🥰

Grimes responded to the tweet and said: “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh”

Prior to being notified of her son’s whereabouts, Grimes had taken a moment to praise New York Times journalist Ezra Klein on her X/Twitter account for his podcast which dived into Trump’s first few weeks in office and the swell of MAGA.

“Ezra Klein is a national treasure,” began her tweet. “Brings a right-wing guy on with an opposing viewpoint and they calmly come to a rough consensus analysis of the current situation. Politics desperately needs more of this vibe right now, for everyone’s sanity.”

Elon Musk and Grimes have three children together – X Æ A-12, born in May 2020, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, born via surrogate in December 2021, and Techno Mechanicus, known as Tau, born in late 2023.

The two announced their split in September 2021, confirming that they had broken up after three years together but “still love each other”.

Back in November, Grimes opened up about her custody battle with Musk over their children, and the ways in which it allegedly affected the time with them. Grimes wrote: “Having babies rips you apart and puts you back together. Babies are 10 thousand philosophy classes of shit [that] you can only learn from that experience.”

She continued: “Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights, having my Instagram posts and modelling used as reasons I shouldn’t have my kids.”

Back in 2023, the musician sued Musk over the custody rights to Tau, claiming that he wasn’t letting her visit him. Shortly after filing the lawsuit, Grimes seemed to suggest that Musk was preventing her from seeing the child. “Tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

Recently, Grimes appeared to address Musk by agreeing with Olivia Rodrigo‘s comments that men who want to go into space are “a little too full of [themselves]”, and also offered words of support for his daughter Vivan, who hit back after he said that she was “killed by the woke mind virus”.

She also addressed Azealia Banks’ comments that said Grimes was dumped by Musk. In a tweet, Grimes shared: “I didn’t “get dumped”. I bounced. My amazing baby is asleep in my bed beside me, I’m in love. no regrets. Life is as beautiful as u want it to be.”

Earlier this year, Grimes clarified her stance on Elon Musk‘s controversial Nazi-like gestures at Donald Trump‘s Presidential inauguration by sharing a tweet that read: “I’m happy to denounce Nazi-ism – and the far alt right. Would that help clear things up? I’ve just gotten out of breakfast and have to catch a flight, and am still debating how to approach things diplomatically because I feel in over my head. But if there’s concern about that, I am happy to set the record [straight] in a meaningful way.”
