The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, Hon. Adedeji Olajide, fondly called Odidiomo, has sent his deepest condolences to all those who lost their lives in the Christmas Funfair Carnival stampede at Islamic High School, Ibadan Bashorun, on Wednesday.
The Member representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest in the Federal House described the loss of lives as most unfortunate and unfathomable.
Sending his heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the people of Oyo, Hon. Adedeji Olajide said: “It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I sympathize with the families of the victims of the stampede at the Christmas Funfair, which I have learned claimed over thirty lives. It is even more painful that some of them were children whose lives were cut short by such a tragic incident at a time when they should have been celebrating Christmas with joy.
“This is indeed an irreplaceable loss for the families involved in this sad event, which is as unfortunate as it is unfathomable. May God grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss. My sympathies also go to my governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, during this trying period, and to the entire people of Oyo State, who are united in grief.
“It is my prayer that such tragic events never occur on our land again. May the souls of all those who died rest in peace,” he said.
The event, which reportedly claimed the lives of over thirty children, was organized by an NGO, ‘Women in Need of Guidance and Support for Vulnerable Children’.
