Isla Fisher has opened up about her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen, calling it “the most difficult thing” she’s had to do.
The couple, who had been married since 2010, confirmed last April that their marriage had come to an end, with Fisher later thanking fans for support.
The Wedding Crashers star has now spoken about the split further in an interview with The Sunday Times, sharing: “It’s the most difficult thing that I’ve been through and I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process. I never imagined my family being separated but we are committed and loving parents.”
Fisher went on to thank her female friends for their support, tearfully saying: “The women in my life have held me… the female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me. I’m actually going to get emotional.

“I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve.”
Announcing their divorce in a statement in 2024, the former couple said: “After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023, we jointly filed to end our marriage.
“We have always prioritised our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”

Cohen was previously subject to claims about his behaviour from Grimsby co-star Rebel Wilson in her book Rebel Rising, allegations that he has strongly denied.
The Australian comedian’s book contained a chapter titled “Sacha Baron Cohen and Other A**holes”, which was heavily edited upon its UK release with direct allegations about Cohen redacted.
The Borat star’s legal team later said of the UK release: “Printing falsehoods is against the law in the UK and Australia; this is not a ‘peculiarity’ as Ms Wilson said, but a legal principle that has existed for many hundreds of years.”
“This is a clear victory for Sacha Baron Cohen and confirms what we said from the beginning – that this is demonstrably false.”
