Julia Fox spoke out against movie reboots and said she’s writing original film scripts to appeal to young people at the Grammys.
The actress and model made the comments to Variety while on the red carpet yesterday (February 2) as a guest of Charli XCX.
She said, while revealing that she’s currently working on her own TV and movie scripts: “We don’t want reboots. We don’t want remakes. We don’t want the sequel. We want new fresh content that speaks to the youth and the people of today.”
She added: “Financiers, hit me up. I have amazing casts. I have amazing stories. They’re crazy. They’re out of this world.”
Fox also explained why she wore yellow rubber gloves to the ceremony, saying: “I have a feeling it’s going to be a sweep, we are going to clean house. We’re taking all the Grammys home.”
While Charli didn’t win all eight of the awards she was nominated for, she was one of the most successful artists on the night and took home three. Fox accompanied her after she appeared in her music video for ‘360’, which was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Music Video, and also inspired a lyric in the song.
Fox appeared on stage with Charli, too, alongside Alex Consani and Gabbriette Bechtel, also in the ‘360’ video, and The Dare.
Also at the Grammys, Kendrick Lamar walked away with five awards, including Record of The Year and Song Of The Year for ‘Not Like Us’, while Beyoncé won Album of the Year and Best Country Album for ‘Cowboy Carter’. Other artists to enjoy a successful night included St. Vincent, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and The Beatles.
Charli, meanwhile, is co-producing and starring in a movie herself, titled The Moment. Charli’s frequent collaborator A. G. Cook will compose the score, but Fox has said she hasn’t discussed a potential role with her friend yet.
“How awkward [because] I wanna ask her, ‘Hey, do you have a part for me?’” she joked. “Charli, you know I can act. Don’t play me, sis.”
Among the other projects Fox has been working on of late are the sports horror Him and the crime thriller Night Always Comes. Her roles in the two movies have not been revealed, and they’re currently in post-production. Meanwhile, she’s also in dark comedy The Trailer, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival in October.
