Justin Trudeau’s son Xavier is set to launch a career in music, and has shared a snippet of a new R&B single.
The Canadian Prime Minister’s son began hinting at the forthcoming release on social media over the weekend, sharing a brief preview of what will be his debut single.
The track is set to be called ‘Til The Night Done’, and is set for release on February 21 via Pathway Music Group. According to Joey Boyer – the co-founder of the label – the forthcoming single is set to capture a “dark ambient R&B” sound, alongside “a hint of ballads”.
In the clip shared on Xavier’s Instagram page, the 17-year old is seen in black-and-white footage, wearing a hoodie and walking around the streets of Ottawa late at night before getting into an SUV.
“We could roll sum, we could light one,” he sings in the snippet.
“Everything you will hear from Xav is 100 per cent original and made specifically to curate to Xav’s ideas,” Boyer told National Post, explaining how the song came together.
He also added that the music is being recorded at the Tekika Room Recording Studios, and that he mixed and mastered the first song using instrumentals and melodies created by Sri Lankan-Canadian artist Duava.
An official release date for the track has not yet been shared, although it is expected to arrive on streaming platforms later this year.
This isn’t the first time that the Trudeau family have made headlines for venturing into the world of music. Back in 2017, the Canadian PM got people talking when he curated a summer Spotify playlist, featuring the likes of Drake, Shawn Mendes and R.E.M.
In 2022 he also found himself in hot water when he was filmed singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ at a London hotel, two days before Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral.
