Kanye West has officially changed his name again, this time from “Ye” to the double-styled moniker “Ye Ye,” according to newly filed legal documents.

The 24-time Grammy winner, known for constantly reinventing both his sound and identity, initially dropped “Kanye West” in 2021, legally becoming just “Ye.” Now, California business filings obtained by Page Six reveal that his Chief Financial Officer, Hussain Lalani, has submitted documentation listing the rapper’s new legal name as “Ye Ye.”

The change is already reflected in his various business ventures, including Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label, LLC, and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc., which all now list “Ye Ye” as the “manager or member” name.

While Ye Ye has not publicly commented on the new change, a post from earlier this month on X (formerly Twitter) hinted at a possible shift.
“Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest twitter cause my name is Ye,” he wrote on June 1. “Gonna start a ye account and it is what it is.”

This latest change follows a history of name evolution. Back in 2018, West tweeted, “The being formerly known as Kanye West. I am YE,” coinciding with the release of his album Ye. Three years later, a judge approved his request to make that name legal.

In March 2024, his chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos issued a letter obtained by Page Six, emphasizing that the artist should be referred to solely as “Ye.”
“Ye is one of the most recognizable people in the world, on par with presidents and popes,” Yiannopoulos wrote.
“He has often labeled ‘Kanye West’ as his enslavement name. Ye is an African American man seeking the right to complete self-determination, similar to everyone else.”

The letter also urged industry platforms, including streaming services, publishers, and lyric websites to update their records accordingly.

Whether this latest transition to “Ye Ye” is a passing phase or a permanent identity remains to be seen. For now, however, the artist once known as Kanye West continues to define and redefine himself on his own terms.
