Kanye West has suggested Cassie Ventura “extorted” Diddy with the sexual assault case she filed against the mogul in November 2023.
Over a year ago, Ventura – Diddy’s ex-girlfriend and former signee – filed a lawsuit against the Bad Boy Records founder for physical assault and rape. The case was settled the following day despite Diddy denying the claims and, months later, CCTV footage of Diddy dragging, kicking and hitting Ventura in a LA hotel surfaced – lending credence to Ventura’s allegations. Diddy later apologised for his “inexcusable” behaviour in the aforementioned video.
Last Thursday (February 20), West shared a string of now-deleted controversial tweets, including one where he wrote: “Did Cassie extort Puff?” – questioning the speed at which their case was settled.
The Chicago rapper-producer received backlash for his idea. One fan replied: “She got beaten. On film. He doesn’t have enough money to cover that trauma. Whatever she got cash wise she deserves wayyyyyyy more.”
Another backed them up, writing: “You’re forever a legend Ye and I’ll always love you but what he did to Cassie was and never will be acceptable – no matter what.”
Some agreed with Ye’s theory that Ventura extorted Diddy, however, many believed she was “right in doing so”. Another X/Twitter user said, “It was too late for [Cassie] to make it a criminal case so she got her coins.” Check out more reactions below.

The tweet comes after Ye claimed he was being extorted by ex-assistant Lauren Pisciotta, who sued him for sexual harassment and wrongful termination back in June. She later amended the lawsuit, adding that West allegedly drugged and raped her at a studio session co-hosted by him and Diddy. West dismissed her claims in a series of inflammatory tweets, accusing her of trying to extort him and referencing her alleged sexual history with NBA players.
West has denied the allegations, calling them “baseless” and said he plans to countersue Pisciota for blackmail. Reports suggest Ye has relocated to Tokyo, which has complicated efforts to serve him legal documents. The next court hearing, originally set for January 29, has been postponed to March 27.
Kanye West has shared a plethora of controversial tweets over the last month, such as calling himself a “Nazi” and retracting his apology for making anti-Semitic remarks before.
He also promoted and sold clothing featuring horrendous images like a screenshot of the aforementioned CCTV footage of Diddy in a towel assaulting Cassie, and a swastika – the latter stunt getting his Yeezy.com shop closed down by Shopify.
Ye has since “come to the realisation” that he’s “not a Nazi” upon “reflection”.
