Kenyan doctors have achieved a groundbreaking medical feat at the Kenyatta National Hospital, performing what is now recognized as the world’s largest breast reduction surgery.
A team of surgeons successfully removed 20.86 kilograms of breast tissue from a 17-year-old girl suffering from gigantomastia, a rare condition that causes excessive breast growth.
According to medical reports, the removed tissue accounted for an astonishing 37 percent of the patient’s total body weight. The surgery marks a major milestone in both Kenyan and global medical history, highlighting the country’s growing capacity for complex reconstructive procedures.
Hospital officials hailed the operation as a triumph for Kenya’s healthcare system, emphasizing that it not only alleviated the young patient’s physical burden but also restored her confidence and quality of life.
