In response to the fuel subsidy removal, the Lagos State Government has taken action to ease its impact.
The government announced reduction of transportation fares by 50% for all state-owned transport systems and pledged to provide food assistance to the vulnerable residents.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing these measures during a press briefing at the Lagos House, Ikeja.
To further support citizens, the informal transportation sector, particularly yellow buses, will also reduce charges by 25%. These adjustments will be effective starting Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
