Jay-Z Denies ‘Heinous’ Rape Allegations in Lawsuit, Calls It ‘Blackmail Attempt’
Billionaire rapper and producer Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, has been named in a civil lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside fellow hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000.
The allegations stem from an afterparty following the MTV Video Music Awards that year, according to court filings made public on Sunday.
The complaint alleges that Carter and Combs took turns assaulting the minor, while another celebrity reportedly stood by and watched. “Many others were present at the after party but did nothing to stop the assault,” the lawsuit claims. “Carter has been with Combs during many such instances described herein. Both perpetrators must face justice.”
In response, Jay-Z issued a statement vehemently denying the claims. “These allegations are deeply disturbing and patently false. This is nothing more than a blackmail attempt,” his legal team said. Combs, widely known as Diddy, is currently in jail facing separate charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Initially referred to in court filings as “Celebrity A,” Carter’s identity was revealed in the amended lawsuit, which accuses him of filing a “frivolous” countersuit. The plaintiff, whose identity remains protected, seeks damages and accountability. Both cases have ignited heated debates about accountability in the entertainment industry.
