LCD completed a six-night residency at the O2 Academy Brixton in 2022. Their return to London this summer will follow their headline performance at All Points East 2024 in Victoria Park, and their major Pyramid Stage slot at last year’s Glastonbury.

The group have not yet played any live shows in 2025, having concluded their run of ‘Winter Function’ dates in New York last December. However, they recently announced a US headline tour for this spring ahead of appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and We Love Green in Paris.

In a press release about their upcoming Primavera performance, it was revealed that the band would be releasing a new album in 2025. This came after LCD dropped a new single, ‘X-Ray Eyes’, late last year.

Murphy later shared an update about the progress on the record, saying: “So there’s a new LCD song called ‘X-Ray Eyes’. It’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new LCD Soundsystem album.

“Don’t ask me when that is, because we are still working on it. But it feels very good to be putting out new music.”

The frontman went on to reiterate that “there is no finished LP yet”, adding: “But when we are not playing shows, it’s getting closer and closer to completion. So that’s the news. Anything else you hear is bullshit speculation.”

‘X-Ray Eyes’ marked the first new material from LCD – aside from the standalone single ‘New Body Rhumba’ from Noah Baumbach’s 2022 film White Noise – since their 2017 comeback album ‘American Dream’. This LP itself ended a seven-year break following 2010’s ‘This Is Happening’.

In 2022, Murphy shared a lengthy Facebook post explaining the band’s decision to take on residencies rather than bigger shows.

NME gave LCD Soundsystem’s set at Glastonbury 2024 a glowing five-star review, writing: “The packed-out Pyramid field hold each other tight and reach for the sky as LCD’s 10 song masterclass naturally ends with ‘All My Friends’.

“This song and this moment are the manifestation of Glastonbury at its best, the memories in the making and the good times still to come: ‘And if the sun comes up and I still don’t wanna stagger home, then it’s the memory of our betters that are keeping us on our feet.’ That’s how it starts.
