Liam Gallagher performs on stage

Liam Gallagher has responded to the reports that he met up with Noel Gallagher earlier this week, branding it as “fake news”.

Various tabloids shared reports recently, claiming that the two brothers had met up at a hotel in central London on Tuesday (February 25) ahead of their massive Oasis reunion shows kicking off this summer.

The claims said that they were seen together at Nobu Hotel Portman Square near Hyde Park, along with both of Liam’s sons Lennon (25) and Gene (23), and spent an hour talking in a private room. Reports also added that the two were joined by Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs before leaving separately.

Speaking to The Sun, an anonymous source then claimed that the brothers were on “much better terms now”.

However, Liam has now dismissed all the reports as false and told followers on social media that the meeting never took place.

“Is it true that you spoke for one hour with Noel in a hotel in London the other day?” one person asked him earlier this morning (February 28). The singer bluntly responded: “FAKE NEWS”.

He went on to address two more followers with similar questions, each time telling them that there was no basis for the tabloid reports.

Responding to another, he gave a sarcastic quip, saying: “I did it was lovely we had a lovely chat and a cuddle.”

A source has also dismissed the claims in a new statement shared with The Independent. Here, they said that Noel was not in attendance and that the group only comprised Liam, his sons and his partner Debbie Gwyther.

This isn’t the first time that Liam has put rumours to rest regarding the upcoming Oasis reunion shows.

Earlier this month, the Britpop icon shut down tabloid reports claiming that he was looking to buy a “country mansion” in the Cotswolds with the money he makes from the tour.

He also addressed fans who were speculating about the length of the upcoming shows, jokingly telling them it would be exactly “59 minutes and 59 seconds”.

The shows kick off in July and include dates at Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park, and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium before heading abroad.

Last year, shortly after news of the comeback was shared, The Sun reported details about the photoshoot that saw Liam and Noel come together in 2024.

“The shoot was top secret and barely anyone knew about it,” it claimed. “For their fans to see them together again will be an amazing sight. The atmosphere in the room was fizzing, it was electric.”

Around the same time, an anonymous source reportedly told The Mirror that Oasis’ 2024 press shot had not been photoshopped from two images: “I know it looks like it could be photoshopped but they were both there and they have met up.”

They went on to say that Liam and Noel were “laughing and joking” on set, adding: “It was great to see after all the years apart.”

So far, little is known about which members will be joining Liam and Noel for the massive gigs, although the singer has been sharing hints about the setlists and the hopes for new material.

Earlier this year, the singer shared his love of the Sex Pistols – despite Glen Matlock describing Oasis as “boring”. He also issued a response following thousands of tickets to the Oasis reunion shows being cancelled by Ticketmaster, and hit out at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame following Oasis’ second nomination, claiming that it “is for wankers”.
