Martin Scorsese has admitted he is a huge fan of Robert Eggers and his version of horror flick Nosferatu.
The movie is a remake of the 1922 film of the same name, which in turn was based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Released earlier this month, it stars the likes of Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Emma Corrin.
During a recent Q&A with with TCM’s Dave Karger (via IndieWire), when asked about the movie, Scorsese said: “It’s amazing. Anything this guy does, amazing. And that’s one [film] you don’t do much after seeing. You’re still in the world. You’re in Transylvania, and it’s really, [laughs] whoa. Man, he’s something.”
In a three-star review, NME described the “bloody, beautiful vampire remake” as “a bit of an empty vessel,” and said: “What marks out Eggers’s take from the many adaptations of Dracula’s story is its visual style. The American filmmaker has rightfully earned a reputation for impressive looking movies but Nosferatu is perhaps the most beautiful film of the past 12 months.”

It recently scored four Oscar nominations including Best Cinematography.
Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed that Eggers will write and direct the sequel of the fantasy classic Labyrinth.
Home Alone director Chris Columbus and his daughter Eleanor will produce the sequel while Lisa and Brian Henson, the daughter and son of late director of the 1986 cult film and Muppets creator Jim Henson, will executive produce.
The original film starred David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as teenager Sarah Williams.
It is unclear whether Connelly will be returning to reprise her role at this stage.
Elsewhere, it was recently reported that Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to finally shoot a film adaptation of Erik Larson’s bestselling book The Devil In The White City, which they’ve been developing for years.
Set in Chicago, it tells the story of two men during the time of the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, also known as the World’s Fair. One is the Fair’s architect, Daniel Burnham, and the other is Dr. H.H. Holmes, known as America’s first modern serial killer, whose most notorious crimes occurred around that time.
