Mohammed Abacha, the son of Nigeria’s late military ruler, General Sani Abacha, has taken legal steps to challenge a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal which dismissed his claim to the ownership of Malabu Oil and Gas Limited.
His legal team has formally approached the Supreme Court, seeking leave to appeal the judgment. They argue that the Court of Appeal’s decision raises significant legal questions that warrant further scrutiny by the nation’s highest court.
Abacha maintains that refusing him the opportunity to appeal would infringe upon his constitutional right to seek legal redress. The case centers around long-standing controversies over the ownership and control of Malabu Oil, one of Nigeria’s most contentious oil assets.
