In a bid to address the issue of drug abuse in Nigeria, controversial singer Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has teamed up with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The spokesperson for the agency, Femi Babafemi, made this announcement in a statement released on Thursday.
Babafemi expressed excitement about Naira Marley’s involvement in the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaign. He also mentioned that a video of Naira Marley’s message to his fans, known as Marlians, and Nigerian youths would be released the following day.
The NDLEA further confirmed Naira Marley’s collaboration by sharing a post on their official social media handle.
The post included a photo of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), alongside Naira Marley during the artist’s visit to the agency’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit was to declare his support for the War Against Drug Abuse on August 17, 2023.
The photo caption highlighted the presence of Naira Marley, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, and other members of Naira Marley’s team, including Sam Larry, Dami Marshal, and Chuddy Naira.
This collaboration between Naira Marley and the NDLEA signifies a joint effort to tackle the pressing issue of drug abuse in Nigeria.
