A woman attempting to smuggle over 2.5 kilograms of cocaine to Iran was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday, May 3, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, had disguised in a hijab in an attempt to evade detection while boarding a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha. According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the agency acted on credible intelligence and intercepted Obehi at the departure hall.
“During her search, our officers discovered three wraps of cocaine concealed in her private part, two large parcels hidden in false compartments of her handbag, and 67 pellets she had swallowed,” Babafemi said.
He added, “She admitted she was meant to ingest 70 pellets but couldn’t continue after 67. She decided to insert the remaining three into her private part.” Obehi was placed under excretion observation and later expelled all 67 pellets. The total weight of the seized cocaine was 2.523 kilograms.
