Beginning tomorrow, June 8, 2025, the cost of obtaining driver’s licenses and number plates in Nigeria will increase, following a new pricing structure approved by the Joint Tax Board (JTB).
Under the revised rates, a driver’s license for motor vehicles will now cost ₦15,000 for a three-year validity period and ₦21,000 for five years. Tricycle operators will pay ₦7,000 for a three-year license and ₦11,000 for five years.
The new pricing regime is part of a broader update to vehicle documentation fees across the country. Authorities urge all motorists and operators to take note of the changes as enforcement is set to commence immediately.
