The National Judicial Institute (NJI) has announced significant staff promotions and the appointment of a new overseer during its Statutory Board of Governors meeting held on December 11, 2024.

The meeting, presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the NJI Governing Board, Hon. Justice Kudirat M. O. Kekere-Ekun, GCON, FNJI, reviewed several key decisions related to the Institute’s mandate, policies, and operations. Among the major highlights was the approval of a comprehensive promotion exercise for senior staff.

The breakdown of the promotions includes 88 senior officers elevated, five staff members converted, five properly placed, two upgraded, and one appointed. Notably, Rasheedat O. Olomada was appointed as Overseer of the Department of Finance and Accounts.

This decision was made in accordance with public service rules, as the current overseer, Mrs. M. O. Aribisala, will retire on January 7, 2025, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

In response to the announcements, NJI staff expressed their appreciation for the leadership of the Administrator, Hon. Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi.

They commended his administration for prioritizing their welfare and professional growth, with many highlighting his commitment to staff training, improved welfare packages, and infrastructure development.

“This is a testament to the Administrator’s unassuming leadership and dedication to the Institute’s progress,” said a senior staff member during the meeting.

The Institute has also been lauded for its extensive training programs and partnerships with relevant stakeholders throughout 2024. Staff members extended their gratitude to the management team led by Secretary Olumo Abdulazeez, Esq., for their unwavering support and commitment to the NJI’s vision.

The NJI’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Kolade Umoru, signed off the announcement, wishing the Institute continued success under its current leadership.
