The Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Ekiti State, Dare Adeleke, has stated that no amount of endorsement can save Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the upcoming 2026 election.
Reacting to reports that the governor is working behind the scenes to secure the APC’s endorsement for a second term, Adeleke said the PDP is poised to reclaim the state.
Adeleke’s statement reads:
“These are interesting times, indeed; not just interesting but truly amusing. As the race for the 2026 Ekiti elections heats up and parties begin to position themselves, confusion has overtaken the ranks of the APC.
Citizens of Ekiti, stakeholders, and other concerned observers can’t help but laugh at the circus of failure the APC has become.
It is almost comical to watch a governor who has squandered his goodwill flail about like a drowning man, grasping desperately and dragging down anything or anyone within reach, in the sea of incompetence he created for himself.

How else can one describe a sitting governor who commands no respect or loyalty within his own party?
We are shocked by reports emerging from the APC that Oyebanji is orchestrating moves to be adopted as the party’s candidate for the 2026 election.
We have it on good authority that the governor, in his desperation for endorsement, has become a wheeler-dealer; trading the future and fortunes of the people to the highest bidder.
Sources within the APC reveal that federal lawmakers and other key players are now dictating the conditions under which they would support Oyebanji’s candidacy.
One such lawmaker, a senator, has reportedly told the embattled governor that they too must be granted automatic tickets in exchange for their support, a blatant attempt to circumvent their party’s constitution.
According to The Guardian, which reported on this backdoor arrangement, Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bamidele is said to be at the forefront of this deal-making process. He and his colleagues appear willing to trade the democratic rights of their constituents for personal gain; completely disregarding the principles that brought them to office.
However, all these machinations will amount to nothing. No amount of endorsement will save Biodun Oyebanji.
The PDP is ready to shake the foundations of Ekiti and reclaim our mandate from the inept and corrupt APC.
Only a man who has failed woefully, one who has turned the government house into a ‘paddy-paddy’ jamboree where friends and family feed fat on public wealth, who cooks the books and lies about the state’s debt status, who has failed to deliver on infrastructure, education, health, and governance; could lose the trust of his own party so thoroughly.
A man who watches from his golden stool while his people walk the streets in tattered clothes and hungry bellies has no business in public office.
Oyebanji now lives in constant fear of political failure because he squandered his chances.
I once again urge the good people of Ekiti to reject Oyebanji and the suffering that the APC has brought upon the state. Come 2026, vote them out. The choice is as clear as daylight: a governor who cannot secure his mandate through popular support is not fit for leadership.
