The Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Lagos State, Mr. Kumar Sanda, has disclosed that more than 100 suspected Boko Haram operatives have been apprehended across the state as part of an intensified effort to prevent insurgent infiltration.

Speaking at an award ceremony held on Wednesday, April 17, at the Airport Hotel in Lagos, where the CJTF was honoured with the “Best Security Group in Lagos” award by the Nigerian Human Rights Community, Sanda highlighted the ongoing vigilance and operations by his team.

“We regularly make arrests at trailer parks, quarries, markets, and other locations where people from the North are known to gather,” Sanda said during his speech. “Our commitment to keeping Lagos free from Boko Haram and banditry remains strong. We are doing everything we can to ensure Lagos is not a haven for insurgents fleeing military operations in the North.”

Sanda further noted that the actual number of suspects arrested might come as a shock to the public. “If I should mention the number of Boko Haram members we have arrested in Lagos State, people will not believe it. But we have arrested thousands,” he claimed.

He emphasized the CJTF’s strategic focus on monitoring key areas where individuals migrating from northern Nigeria are most likely to be found. According to him, this proactive approach is crucial in intercepting potential threats before they can carry out any harmful activities.

The CJTF, a community-driven security group, has been working closely with other security agencies to bolster Lagos’s defenses against insurgency and criminal infiltration.
