The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Chief Dare Adeleke, has declared that the party will take firm action against those working against its interests, particularly in the lead-up to the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, Adeleke emphasized the importance of party unity and warned that it would no longer be “business as usual” for those engaging in anti-party activities. The meeting aimed to address internal conflicts, ensure smooth rescheduled congresses, and strategize for victory in the upcoming election.

The event was attended by prominent PDP figures, including Senator Duro Faseyi, former state chairmen Hon. Gboyega Oguntuase and Hon. Makanjuola Ogundipe, former deputy governorship candidate Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, and other key party leaders and aspirants.

Adeleke alleged that some elements within the party were attempting to derail its progress. “We have some leaders who are destroyers. I have been receiving calls since midnight that certain individuals want to disrupt this meeting and prevent us from holding our congress,” he said.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to conducting its congresses without interference, Adeleke assured members that security agencies and electoral bodies, including INEC and law enforcement, were being engaged to ensure a smooth process. “The PDP is not in disarray. Our national leaders are solidly behind us, and we are waxing stronger in Ekiti,” he added.

On the issue of anti-party activities, Adeleke warned that disciplinary measures would be taken against party members found to be collaborating with rival parties. “We are aware that some leaders are romancing the APC. We will not spare anyone undermining the PDP, regardless of their status,” he asserted.

Senator Duro Faseyi echoed Adeleke’s stance, emphasizing the need for discipline within the party. He also expressed confidence in the PDP’s resurgence in Ekiti, stating, “That we are not in government does not mean we are not intact. We are waiting for the final court judgment on the congresses, and once that is resolved, we will move forward.”

Dr. Wole Oluyede, one of the governorship aspirants, reinforced the party’s strength, despite its absence from power for nearly eight years. “The PDP remains a formidable force in Ekiti. Unlike those in government, we are not spending public funds, yet our support remains strong,” he noted.

With the party gearing up for the crucial 2026 election, Adeleke and other leaders called for unity, discipline, and a renewed commitment to reclaiming power in Ekiti State.
