The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its three-day strike following a resolution reached with the management of Dangote Refinery.
Announcing the decision at a press briefing, PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, said the suspension came after a marathon meeting brokered at the Office of the National Security Adviser.
“We have suspended the strike in the interest of peace and in recognition of the agreement signed with the management of Dangote Refinery,” Osifo stated. “However, let me be clear — if the company reneges on this agreement, we will not take it lightly.”
The union also cautioned the refinery against backtracking on commitments made, stressing that industrial harmony depended on full compliance.
Paparazzi Online recalls that PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery have been at loggerheads over the unionisation of some employees at the facility, a dispute that sparked the industrial action.
