Peter Kay has released a statement after ejecting three people from a recent stand up show in Manchester.
It came after a man and his son were reportedly removed from the gig at the AO Arena over the weekend after the former repeatedly shouted Kay’s catchphrase “garlic bread”.
As security escorted the man out, a woman was said to have shouted, “We love you, Peter” which saw the comedian ask security to remove her too.
As she made her way through the aisles, Kay reportedly said: “Have a drink, have we? Go on, off you go Lisa Riley.”
Lisa Riley is an actress who has spoken openly about her problems with alcohol in the past but in a statement via Good Morning Britain, Kay defended his comment and said it was in reference to her appearance: “I didn’t realise it was an insult. She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult.”

Riley has since dismissed the remark, and wrote on her Instagram Story: “Please draw a line under this now, I am not offended, never was offended. I love Peter Kay to pieces. Laughter is my favourite medicine.”
Referring to the ejections, Kay continued in his statement: “There comes a point when dealing with repeated hecklers simply isn’t enough. It’s not something you ever want to do but it becomes a point when it’s no longer fair to everyone around.”
He went on to say he “felt he had no option but to remove the hecklers as they were spoiling the show”.
The comedian is currently on his ‘Peter Kay Live: Better Late Than Never… Again!’ tour.
He is next due to appear at Marston Green on February 21 before calling at further stops in London, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Elsewhere, it was recently revealed that Kay is the UK’s richest comedian with an estimated fortune of £34.6million.
