The Rivers State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the brutal killing of a Port Harcourt-based businesswoman, Mina Orupabo, who was shot dead in what witnesses describe as a brazen attack along Peter Odili Road.

Orupabo, the Chief Executive Officer of Special Bensington’s Ushers and a well-known figure in the city’s social and events scene, was reportedly on her way to inspect an event centre when gunmen opened fire on her vehicle.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim fatally wounded.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the matter has been escalated for deeper investigation.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for a thorough investigation,” she told journalists.

The police spokesperson, however, did not officially disclose the victim’s identity, though social media users and local sources have widely identified her as Mina Orupabo.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities say the identities of the assailants and the motive behind the attack remain unknown.

The killing has sparked anxiety among residents and business owners in Port Harcourt, with many expressing fears over rising insecurity in the area and calling for swift action by security agencies.
