Kanye West and Bianca Censori are not getting a divorce, a representative for the rapper has claimed.
On Thursday (February 13), rumours began circulating that West and Censori are headed for divorce, shortly after their controversial appearance at the Grammys earlier this month, and after the rapper’s claims of “dominion” over her in an X/Twitter rant last week.
Daily Mail and TMZ first reported on the alleged divorce, claiming that they had reached out to divorce attorneys to confirm the rumours. Now, however, the couple’s longtime rep Milo Yiannopoulos has denied the divorce reports in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Yiannopoulos said: “Ye and Bianca are in Los Angeles, about to enjoy Valentine’s Day together. Announcements about their private life will come from them directly, not unsourced rumours in the tabloid press. Is this the fifth or is it the sixth time the press has wrongly reported that Ye and Bianca are separating? I’ve lost track.”
Prior to the reports of Kanye and Bianca’s alleged divorce, many had shown concern for Censori after she attended the Grammys red carpet event with Ye earlier this month. At the ceremony, Censori disrobed to reveal a see-through dress and her nude figure underneath. The incident was claimed to be a stunt seeing the couple recreate the ‘Vultures 1’ album cover.
After the Grammys incident, social media began wondering if Censori was alright, and if she was under Kanye West’s control. In an explosive social media tirade, Kanye would later claim “dominion” over his wife: “I have dominion over my wife. This ain’t no woke as feminist shit. She’s with a billionaire, why would she listen to any of you dumb ass broke bitches?
“People say the red carpet look was her decision… Yes, I don’t make her do nothing she doesn’t want to, but she definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without my approval, you stupid ass woke pawns.”
His tweets would get even more controversial, as he rescinded his apology to the Jewish community for his past anti-Semitic remarks, and went on to declare himself as “a Nazi” and write: “I love Hitler”, as well as praise billionaire and X owner Elon Musk as “the most lit person that [has] ever been on Twitter”, following the latter’s accusations of Nazism at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.
Further posts saw him mock other marginalised communities, claim that “slavery is a choice” and more. He then wiped his website and began selling only a white T-shirt with a large swastika on the chest, listed as “HH-01” – possibly a reference to the “Heil Hitler” chant.
The spree saw his X account taken down and deactivated, and Shopify then went on to shut down West’s Yeezy website. It was later confirmed that the rapper had been dropped by his talent agency, and his former Chief Of Staff had quit the Yeezy company.
As well as his X page becoming active again, Thursday also saw Shopify state that the artist’s website was taken down due to the potential for fraud – not because it was selling a Swastika T-shirt.
In the time since the rant on social media, Ye’s ‘Vultures’ collaborator Ty Dolla $ign has condemned hate speech, Charlie Puth begged West to stop promoting “incredibly dangerous” messages, and Friends star David Schwimmer called for action to be taken against the rapper for his hate-filled “Nazi” posts, arguing that “silence is complicity”.
Elsewhere, Ye has been sued for discrimination by a former Yeezy employee, and accused of texting “Hail Hitler” to a Jewish staff member.
