Preparations are in full swing for the second edition of the prestigious Eko Mi Awards, with this year’s theme tagged “Eko Best 11.” The highly anticipated ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Among the top nominees for the coveted “Best 11” category are Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, and Lagos State Commissioner for Education Tokunbo Wahab, alongside several other trailblazers in various sectors.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Otunba Bestman Nze-Jumbo, CEO of Image Expression and publisher of Eko Mi and Eko E Newspaper, emphasized that the Eko Mi Awards is more than a ceremony—it’s a celebration of impact.
“It’s a salute to legacy, leadership, and the relentless Lagos spirit,” Nze-Jumbo said. “We’re celebrating pioneers, disruptors, and legends who’ve redefined what’s possible and powered the pulse of Lagos.”
He added that nominees were selected through a rigorous and thoughtful process, ensuring only individuals who have made substantial contributions to Lagos’ growth and development are honored.
“Every nominee represents the soul of Lagos—resilience, innovation, and excellence,” he noted.
Other notable nominees include tech advocate Tunde Onakoya, entrepreneur Tony Elumelu, philanthropist Aliko Dangote, media mogul Seyi Tinubu, fashion icon Mai Atafo, gospel leader Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and actors Kunle Afolayan and Odunayo Eweniyi.
The full list spans business leaders, creatives, traditional rulers, political figures, and social innovators, reflecting the diverse spirit of Lagos.
The 2025 edition promises a star-studded gathering that not only honors excellence but also highlights the vibrant and dynamic heartbeat of Nigeria’s commercial capital.
