Netflix has announced the renewal of the popular South Korean reality dating series Single’s Inferno for a fifth season.
Today (February 13), the streaming service announced that Single’s Inferno will be returning with season five, “a first for a Korean variety show on Netflix”, per translations by Soompi.
“Single’s Inferno, a bold and unfiltered dating show set on ‘Inferno Island’ – where contestants can only leave if they become a couple – has seen four consecutive seasons of success. As a result, we’ve decided to produce Season 5,” the streamer said.
Per Netflix, season four, which premiere in January 2025 and wrapped up earlier this week, recorded the highest first-week viewership in the show’s history and secured a spot on the platform’s top 10.
In the same press statement, showrunners Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun and Park Soo-ji also expressed their gratitude to the show’s fans for the series’ continuation: “Because of your support and love, we’ve made it to Season 5. We’re listening to our viewers and will return with an even better season.”
Single’s Inferno follows a group of singles as they live together on a remote island dubbed Inferno, where they try to find love while keeping their personal details hidden from one other.
The only way to make it off the island and get themselves to Paradise, which is characterised by luxurious hotel suites, is to find romance by pairing themselves with another contestant.
In other news, Netflix also recently announced that The Glory’s Song Hye-kyo and Squid Game’s Gong Yoo have been tapped to lead an upcoming series tentatively titled Show Business, set against the backdrop of the gritty 1960s and 1980s Korean entertainment industry.
