Team Nigeria for Change, a prominent socio-political group dedicated to equitable governance and socio-political advancement in the country, has appealed to Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to grant Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu the freedom to select his own cabinet members. The group’s president, Otunba Bestman Nze-Jumbo, conveyed this message during the weekend.
Nze-Jumbo emphasized that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s successful re-election is a testament to his capable leadership, and he should have the autonomy to choose individuals who can contribute to the fulfillment of his second-term agenda in Lagos State. He expressed concern over the decision by the Lagos State House of Assembly to reject 17 out of 39 commissioner nominees put forward by the governor, suggesting that this move might be perceived as politically motivated.
Nze-Jumbo pointed out that both the governor and his team’s achievements substantiate their competence in assembling a capable team. As a majority of the assembly members belong to the same ruling party, he urged that any disagreements should have been resolved internally rather than becoming a matter of public discourse.
It’s worth recalling that on August 23, 2023, the Lagos State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, turned down 17 names from the list of 39 commissioner nominees forwarded by the governor.”
